In the age of content and visual marketing, brands are scampering around trying to find the best way to incorporate visuals onto their message. What they don’t know is that there are available tools right under their noses which can help them gain a competitive advantage over their competitors.

Like SlideShare.

Yup, SlideShare. It is one of the most underutilized tools in marketing today. The nature of this platform makes it easy to share useful content in a well designed, attractive, and visually appealing manner.

Before I go on to talk about the reasons why SlideShare is a great tool for your business, here’s a little background info on this platform for those who don’t know what it is (or know of its existence and that’s about it):

What is SlideShare?

SlideShare is a content sharing platform where users can upload presentations for others too see. Presentations can be in PDF, PowerPoint or other less popular versions like OpenDocument and Keynote. Initially made for businesses to share content internally, it has now evolved to be a great content sharing tool for businesses. And not only for business. This platform has also made space for entertainment. Now, you can embed YouTube videos and add sound in the form of mp3 files, thus making the presentation more interactive and entertaining.

Companies are increasingly using this platform as part of their content marketing strategies as it is a great way to get noticed and spread their message. With 60 million views a month and over 215 million page views, it is simply too big to ignore. Realizing its potential for professional content sharing, LinkedIn bought it out in 2012. It is now recognized as the largest community for sharing presentations online.

Why should I use SlideShare?

Sharing socially is easy: SlideShare makes sharing the popularity of the platform stems from its ease of use and view. Presentations can be viewed in mobile format and can be shared on the most popular social networking sites: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Google+.

Visual content is in: the popularity of visual content sharing platforms is evident. Pinterest and  Instagram are just some of the examples of this. SlideShare allows businesses to share content in a way that does not bore viewers: infographics, videos, etc. I mean, what’s more engaging, a PowerPoint presentation with lots of images and charts, or a long report? Exactly. Signing up on SlideShare would help solve marketers problems with content marketing.

It it SEO friendly: SEO techniques also apply here. You can optimize your presentations with including the right keywords for your business. This allows it to be a place to drive traffic to your site.

Competition is low: since the platform is relatively new, competition is low. Making a presentation on a topic greatly talked about in your business or industry will easily get you noticed. In other social media sites, where big brands are already on, it will not be as easy to get your content noticed.

In summary, SlideShare is a creative way to present your business’ content and increase your brand’s viewership. Under the guidance with LinkedIn, it is bound to keep its professional appeal. It’s high time social media marketers realize its potential instead of just focusing on Facebook, Twitter, and the more traditional forms of social media.

Leverage the power of SlideShare and give viewers a visual treat with your content. This could possibly be a great relief for small businesses looking for ways to indulge in affordable content marketing solutions.
